Shim Source

Postby Bhpete » Mon Apr 18, 2016 9:27 am

Recently I've been in contact with Lance at http://triggershims.com/index.html. From him I got some shims he made that fit very nicely over the 1/4" spool shaft in place of the hard to find phosphor washers.

His tooling makes a .251 ID and a .640" OD shim in stainless steel in thicknesses from .002 though .009".

While I've only test fit the shims to a reel I feel they'll give good performance to the Reelsmith.

I have no interest in triggershims.com except that Lance has been helpful in finding an alternative spool bearing surface.

Thanks for the source lead Bhpete. Yes, those phosphor bronze washers are getting more difficult to find - especially in small quantities. I use SS now too.

USA Knifemaker does have the phosphor bronze washers in several thicknesses from .002" up and in small to large quantities. They are my go-to source for these for my reel kits now.

Cheers,
Michael
