I just got two kits in the mail - I will keep the first one and swap the second one. I have some ideas - and I plan on making a reel for the guy who talked me into building my first rod. So after the first two I plan on trying some stuff!!

Oops, Amabilis emailed me today to point out that he signed up for the swap and wanted to participate! I must have missed his post, but it is there! So, we have 6 swappers altogether! Swap On!

cheers

Well I have not started yet, but I am picking up a drill press tomorrow - so I will be starting very soon. i plan on doing both reels at once, and I think I will get some help from my dad and his tools. I am looking forward to getting started. i had a few fly rods I had to finish before I started.

I am not sure I am going to be able to make it by March 1 - I have had some work and family matters that have taken up most of my time. How is everyone else doing on their reels?

I'm getting close to finishing up mine. We could consider a few week extension if that would help?

cheers,
Michael

Sounds like a great idea. I am just now hooking up with your site and store. Have ordered your book and hope to be building reels real soon. If you decide to have this again next year, I hope to soon have some experience, I would like to sign up then.
Thanks

Welcome aboard Bob! You will indeed be building reels soon! Once the book is out and more and more people get involved, there could conceivably be several swaps a year! After the first wave of reels "by the book" is complete, I am sure everyone will be branching out and making their own modifications and enhancements. That's when it will get really fun!

cheers,
Michael

Will do. This one is coming close to the end. I think there was some interest in extending the deadline to mid March. My reel is complete but I want to hold off posting photos until others are done!

cheers,
Michael

Good Day all,
Michael, received my book today, "The Reelsmith's Primer" and I like what I see so far. Expect to spend the weekend going over words of wisdom concerning the making of fly reels. Really excited about starting. Thanks for the new hobby...
