Looking for ideas for our 2nd swap!

Postby eclecticguy » Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:28 pm

Now that we have 1 swap completed, I thought it would be good to ask the members of TRF for ideas for a next swap. If you have any ideas, please post them here! Some ideas are:

1) a basic reel with a fancy hole pattern

2) alternative materials (any type) required

3) click-pawl drag mechanism required

or, it could just be a simple swap too.

Also let me know if you are interested so I can gauge numbers.

cheers,
Michael

Don't have a specific date in mind. We can start whenever we have enough folks wanting to join in!

So, if you are interested in having a swap over the summer - maybe target July or August for the completion date, let us know here. When we get 5 or 6, that should be a good group.

cheers,
Michael

Hey Tim - and others - I am thinking about starting the next swap sometime in mid August with a completion of December 1st. That way, it will be like an early present!

How does that sound? I'm thinking of keeping it simple this time too - perhaps just alternative materials and/or decorative elements.

regards,
Michael

How about adjustable drag reels? I have a design in mind, and have the tools to make all the parts, minus the metal disks. Just need to find a supplier. I'm crossing my fingers that Kermit has a few extras left over. I'll let you know for sure when I find some disks, but I'm definitely interested.

How's this for an idea for the swap:

1) any sort of click drag system.
2) each participant makes 2 reels - one gets swapped and the other gets sent to the Project Healing Waters Georgia Rod/Reel donation that you posted the link for earlier today?
3) 11/1/2010 would be the deadline so we can get the donation reels to the Project Healing Waters group

I am about ready to introduce a new reel kit with a click drag. I would be happy to provide the detailed drawings and maybe parts if there is enough time.

Sound interesting? We would be helping out in addition to having fun!

cheers,
Michael
