Met a couple of reelsmiths yesterday!

Postby eclecticguy » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:30 pm

Yesterday, I attended SuperBoo VII - a really cool event hosted by the Lawrence High School Fly Fishing Club up in Maine. The venue is primarily focused on bamboo rods. Folks bring dozens of rods and anyone can test cast them in the gymnasium! I came with some of my reels and tools. I also donated a reel to the Club for their raffle. A couple of our forum members, jaydawg and fishketcha are from down east (Maine) and attended Super Boo. It was great to finally meet these guys! You can see fishketcha's reel in the Showcase. He was the first to enter The Reelsmith's Primer Challenge hall of fame! Jaydawg has a thread on the Showcase and is building a beautiful raised pillar reel cut on a CNC router using my basic design. I can't wait to see the finished reel.

I hope to meet many more forum members in 2010!

cheers,
Michael

I have to agree with Michael...It was a thrill to meet fellow reelsmiths. I didn't know Jaydawg was there and I'm sorry I missed him. Who knows, a reelsmith gathering in the future may be in order.

Keep the ideas alive on this wonderful journey.
