Greetings from Ireland

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for introducing myself so lately but I was very busy (and still I am) reading and learning the most of your posts.
Ok there is not much to say about my person. I'm a German living in Ireland since August 2006. I'm married (since 9 years) and we have 3 Kids (8, 6 and 4 years of age). I started fly fishing in spring 2007 (36 years too late ;) ).
Due to my nature (and my education as a machine builder / mechanic) I'm trying to build everything on my one. This can be sometimes a big challenge  .
By searching the web I found this great side - thanks to you all for sharing your knowledge and ideas.
I have already started to build a reel. The biggest challenge I have is to get the right material here in Ireland.
There are only a few places to get brass sheets (they 're charging you the same price as for gold :? ) and I don't know where to get the pillars and the spindle and the Delrin yet (it's so easy in Germany – every hardware shop has it). All I got is a very soft aluminium but I tried it. It ends all up in scratch. The frames bended very easy and not having the right screws and pillars I was not far away to drop it into the bin. So I have learned my lesson ;) and I want/need this Book and Materials Package Special!

So I'm looking forward to have a good time here and still hope to show up my first reel very soon.
I apologies for my English – hope you' re able to understand it.

Thanks again to you Michael and you all for this great forum.
Greetings

Thanks wooly! There are several other UK reelsmith's on this forum - maybe they can point you to some local sources for materials too. We look forward to seeing what you create.

Cheers,
Michael
