Pot chucks for cutting the ring

Hi Michael,

Is there any info re pot chucks (for lathework) for cutting the ring?/ i.e.

How does it work and if there are any videos showing how to do this.

Very grateful for your help with this.

Here is a reference I used for Pot Chucks. You might try googling it or looking on YouTube for videos, I have not come across any videos but haven't looked.

When I wrote the book and in my own work, I try to save as much usable metal as possible. For instance, the disk that gets removed from the center of the ring could be used to make a smaller reel. For that reason, I don't turn the rings on the lathe. There are special tools though that are designed to turn rings that are curved to closely match the radius of the ID of the ring. You could easily make one of these simply by grinding a tool to shape.
