First reel

Postby rosborne » Mon Dec 28, 2009 10:47 pm

I have completed my first reel and have been attempting to attach a picture of it to a posting, but don't seem to be having any luck. Do I need some special authorization to attach a picture? (As you can see, technological savvy is not my strong suit!)

Nope, you don't need any special permission. Here's what you do:

1) Create a post.
2) Below the edit box (where I am typing this now), you will see a tab that says Options. Next to it is Upload attachment. Click Upload attachment.
3) Click the Choose FIle button and find your jpg photo file.
4) Click the Add the file button.
5) When the file has loaded, you will see a Posted Attachments panel between the edit box and above the Upload attachment panel. It will show your file name.
6) Click the Place inline button and that will add the photo to your post.

Repeat the above for each photo.

Let me know if you still have problems and if so, which step above you were able to complete successfully. We all want to see your reel! Worst case, you can email them to me at mhackney@reelsmithing.com and I'll be happy to post them for you.

cheers,
Michael

Photos of Rogers first reel

Postby eclecticguy » Wed Dec 30, 2009 8:11 pm

Ok, Roger was still having trouble so he emailed me this text and photos:

certainly enjoyed building Reel No. 1, and I'm looking forward to catching the first fish on it. I'm also looking forward to building Reel No. 2 and seeing the complete book. Congratulations on the great work with the book. The drafts you sent me were of great help.

A few enhancements may be in order for my Reel No. 2. I need to do a better job of polishing---I had some deeper scratches which I didn't get out, even with the successive grades of paper up through 2000. Clearly my operator error! I may add a counterbalance as well.

I plan to use Reel No. 1 on one of the two bamboo rods I have made so far. I hope to start Rod No. 3, along with Reel No. 2.

(Roger, I experienced the same problem you did! I ended up having to resize your photos to make them smaller. I am going to check in to why the larger 4mb photos caused problems.)

Great job Roger, thanks for letting me post your photos. You did a great job on the elliptical shaped foot! I like your grip too, is that cocobolo?

cheers,
Michael
